Rehoboth Beach Museum Hosts Video Program About Local LGBTQ Pioneers Archibald and Elkins

2pm. The Rehoboth Beach Museum will continue its series, In Their Own Words, with an on-line presentation of the Oral History of Murray Archibald and the late Steve Elkins. Steve and Murray are the founders of CAMP Rehoboth, a community service organization dedicated to creating a positive environment inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender identities in Rehoboth Beach and its related communities. CAMP Rehoboth was founded in 1991 to “create a more positive Rehoboth.” In the video, Archibald and Elkins provide insight about the founding and evolution of CAMP, their lives, and their vision for the future of CAMP. It also gives insight into Sundance, which predated CAMP, and started as their anniversary party and went on to be a major AIDS fundraiser. This is a very insightful Oral History by two trailblazing men who worked together to make their vision a reality.

Oral History Program Manager Robert Thompson will give an overview of the process of completing oral histories as an introduction to the airing of the video. Murray Archibald will be present to take questions at the end of the program.
